Day 7

"Masturbate at 1:56pm to the following fantasy"
Just FYI, for women it was like a page-long, story-length fantasy. Not totally surprising

Day 6

"Today, write the opening sentence of your début novel."

The winter night grew colder and more bitter with each passing moment.

I couldn't really think of much, but at the time this sounded somewhat profound.

Day 5: Out of Order

"Mass Social Experiment: Place an 'out of order' sign on any item of public infrastructure you might encounter today, including, but not limited to: elevators, garbage trucks, cranes, phone booths, toilets, ventilation units, escalators, entrances to subway stations. The aim is to achieve comprehensive social breakdown across the US."

While I don't think this could ever really achieve the kind of social breakdown hoped for, it's always good for a bit of a laugh.

Day 4: World Coloring-In Day

"Today, work out your globe trotting plans for the rest of your time on earth. Note: The State Department currently discourages travel to the following countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, North Korea, Turkmenistan, Zimbabwe, and North Yemen."
Doing this really reminds me what a very, very small  portion of the world I'm from. I've pretty much got New England, New York, and Eastern Canada down pat, but I really haven't seen much else. I'm going to Italy in March this year, which should be pretty awesome. I left everything else yellow because I would really like to travel the world before I die. There's so much out there to be seen and to do, I really don't want to be trapped in New England forever. However, if you notice, there's a small area just south of New York and East of Pennsylvania that I've colored red. No thanks.

Day 3: Throw something away that You like

"Today, throw something away that you like."

This one was a little bit tough, mostly because I really like my things. But I figured if I had to get rid of something, it would be something that I needed to get rid of anyway. Every year since I was about 10, for Christmas my Nana would get me these candies.

They are my absolute favorite candy, hands down. This year, as usual, I got a bag of them in my stocking and I was as excited as ever. However, I've decided that this year I am going to be trying to eat healthier. I've been doing a much better job since starting school again in the summer: working out, counting calories, etc. But for the New Year, I've decided that I want to focus a lot more on eating healthier. I've started following Alton Brown's Food Lists for Weight Loss, so that's a start. But, if I'm going to be eating healthier I really shouldn't have a bag of my favorite candy sitting right in front of me constantly. So, as hard as it may be, it's time they go.

Day 2: The Love of Your Life

"Today, gaze at everyone wondering whether then might be the one true love of your life, the one destined for you and you alone, and whether you might be passing them by forever... Act in consequence."

Well, I figured this one may be a little difficult seeing as I've spent most of the day driving back to school. But, as I am already in a committed relationship, I figured out what I can do for this instead.

As many of you already know, this is Sarah, my girlfriend. The person that I am convinced is the love of my life. We've been dating for just over two years now and I've honestly never been happier .We started dating by almost a random chance, just before a left for school. Originally, I didn't want to date because I didn't want to have to put her through a long distance relationship. We decided that we would see where things went, what's the worst that could happen? That turned out to be the best decision of my life. Every time that I'm around her, I get this feeling that no matter what, everything is going to be just fine. She always has a way of making me smile, even when I don't feel like it. As hard as it's been at times having a long distance relationship, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I could never thank her enough for putting up with this whole situation, it means so much to me. I can't wait until I finish school this year and we can start the life that we've always wanted together. If you're reading this, Sarah, I love you more than I could ever put into words. You are the most amazing person in my life and I can't imagine it without you.

Day 1: Warm-Up

"As this is your first day, you should warm up with an easy task that will only change your life a little bit."

Today gave me a list of various things that I could choose from, or I could flip to a random page in The Book and perform that day's task. I figured that I wouldn't want to repeat a task, so I chose from the list "Try a new Sandwich Filling". For those of you that know me well, you know that I am quite a fan of sandwiches, so this felt pretty natural to me.
Today, I made a Fried Clam Po'boy with Tomato, Spinach and Cajun Remoulade. This was FANTASTIC. A good way to start a year of various adventures.

This Book Will Change My Life

This Book Will Change Your Life - 365 Daily Instructions for Hysterical Living
"Is the year ahead looking much the same as the last? Another 365-day grind of meetings, dinner dates, and not-to-forget-birthdays? If so, try this book. Part instruction manual, part therapy, part religious cult, part sheer anarchy, This Book Will Change Your Life will help you poke a stick in the spokes of your routine and make every day of the next year the first day of your new life."

I got this book as a Christmas gift and it seems very interesting. It basically gives you one out-of-the-ordinary thing to do every day for 1 year. Since I have nothing much better to do, and also because the world may or may not end this year I've decided that I'm going to follow The Book's instructions as closely as I can for a full year. Since there are 366 days this year, I'll have to figure something out for the last day.

Anyway, we'll see what happens. There are certain things that I won't be able to do, like hiring a prostitute for a whole day, but I'm going to do my best to do every task in the book. Wish me Luck!
