Day 154: Hard Work Day

"Hard work is good for the soul, besides being the basis of Western society's economic dominance. Follow these instructions to make sure you earn your money today."

The book then gives some instructions on how to earn my weight around the office today. However, I don't work in an office or at all for that matter. But I'm doing Relay for Life today, and I think that's hard enough work for it to count. And it's going for a good cause instead of into my own pocket, so I feel like that counts for a little bit extra.

Day 153

"Talk to a Plant for at least One Hour."

While I didn't have time to talk for a full hour, I did get to sit outside for a while and enjoy the beautiful weather... while also talking to a plant. I know mythbusters proved that talking to plants does have some effect on how they grow, but I really felt like I was just talking to myself. Which I kind of do a lot anyway, but at least I got to enjoy the sun for a little bit which is something that I don't do nearly often enough.

Day 152: Write a Message to the Future

"Mark the envelope 'DO NOT OPEN UNTIL JUNE 1, 2104'. Begin the letter with today's date and To Whom it May Concern. Suitable topics: world peace, evolutionary trends, suggestions on how to deal with living on other planets, predictions, anecdotes from our times that might interest future generations. Hide the envelope so that it won't be found for a hundred years.

To Whom it May Concern,

Sorry about all that before. We cool?

Day 151

"Everyone has a favorite dinosaur. Go to your local natural history museum and make sure yours is properly displayed."

I'm definitely going to have to go with the Spinosaurus for my favorite dinosaur. Big, weird, and totally bad ass (sound familiar?) The Spinosaur was like a T-Rex, except way bigger, with bigger arms and a head like a crocodile. Also, it had a big weird spiny fin on it's back for some reason, nobody's quite sure. But it's the biggest of all the carnivorous dinosaurs, and definitely the biggest bad ass.
Unfortunately, the only fossils of the Spinosaurus that have ever been found were destroyed during the bombing of Munich in WW2. So even if we had a natural history museum, I really don't think they'd have any Spinosaurus displays around. *sigh* Oh well, a man can dream

Day 150

"Reconnect with your aquatic origins by spending all of today underwater. It is common knowledge that the old theory about man evolving from apes on the dry plains of Africa is wrong. Rather, scientists now believe that man got caught in flooded swamp land was thus forced to rise from a four-legged posture to a two-legged one, so as to avoid drowning. Hence the various features that distinguish us from apes: our hairlessness, our capacity to control our breathing, our relatively large proportions of subcutaneous fat. Spend today underwater, and feel the fish within."

I know that I can't actually spend the entire day underwater, seeing as how I don't have gills yet. However, I did get a chance to go for a nice swim after my workout today which I haven't done in a while. I used to swim a lot, but then I kind of fell out of it. It was really nice to get back to it for a change.

Day 149: Help Resolve an Intractable Global Geopolitical Crisis

"Some bring spark out there must be able to come up with an answer to the world's various problems. Could it be you? Put your mind to it for a couple of minutes."

I've actually always thought that we could benefit pretty greatly from abolishing the current system of currency. Money hasn't really helped anything, and everything could still operate the same way without it, given certain guidelines of course.

After graduation from high school, people would be required to either attend college or get a job (if they choose to attend college, they're required to get a job afterwards). After getting verified employment, the person does not have to pay for any goods or services as long as they consume only what they need. Those without a job will have some sort of separate unemployment verification, where they will still not be required to pay for goods or services but have a restricted consumption limit.

Using such a system (with more detail and thought, clearly) I think the world could gain much greater economic equality, which I think we can all agree would be a much welcomed change.

Day 148

"Leave a note on someone's car windshield"

I think this is pretty self-explanitory
