Day 35

"Today give little tasks to people around you."

So yeah, I got a few people to do a few things. Some of them don't really constitute anything to post about, but I figured it's still worth it.

Kimberly: Be more strict with me on Wednesdays

Stephanie: Read me my horrorscope -
Basically, it summarized your day into being one where you were fairly energetic during the day compared to the last few days and wanted you to reflect on what you may have learned recently, as well as take relief in relaxing. Honestly, it's a Friday, so I think everyone besides people working on Saturdays could say that today would be a relief to relax after a week worth of classes.
It also suggested you do some aromatherapy and suggested finding a holistic market to buy essences. Personally, your horoscope started sounding like a marketing speech...but apparently "essences of nasturtium, iris, and tansy can help you break through fixed attitudes and behavior patterns".
The horoscope also talked about you working in tiny, powerful energy bursts instead of completely throughout the day with both extreme highs and lows. It led to stating you could be considered a 'yo-yo' but you should focus and take advantage of your highs.
More importantly, they had a food horoscope which I thoroughly enjoyed. It says to show any gratitude to anyone in your life who has either written you a recommendation or connected you with a job recently by baking a dessert. They even suggested: "so why not bake this special someone a rustic pear tart with nutmeg, cinnamon, and delicious pears? I have a feeling you're going to make a friend for life." Personally, I'm pretty sure anyone would become someone's friend if they randomly got a rustic pear tart...
Overall, I think it's just telling you to have a good weekend and bake something like pie soon.

Aunt Cyndi: When I say something witty, praise me

Sebastian: Tell me a bedtime story

Chad: Tell me something cute

Sarah: Let me have the remote tonight

Day 34

"Today, write to a dictator to stop torture."

As it turns out, dictators aren't too keen on putting out their address for people to send them things. Instead, here's a little graphic I made for V's speech from V for Vendetta. Kind of in the same vein I think. Enjoy.

Day 33: Be on the lookout for the Paranormal

"There is more to the world than meets the eye. Today try to be especially receptive to paranormal manifestations and determine for yourself whether there is indeed a world beyond the veil."

Being that my college campus is known to be a least somewhat haunted, I figured this wouldn't be too bad. I went out to the graveyard at midnight and recorded some audio to see if I could pick anything up. Like I expected, I really didn't find, see, or hear anything interesting. If anybody is interested in hearing what I recorded, here's the audio  There's two small sounds that could have been anything, but I noted where they were.

Day 32: Tonight, Control your dreams

"Freud postulated that our dreams are essentially the recombined elements of things that had affected us during the day. Today think very hard about these three things and see if they crop up in your dreams tonight."
Hedgehog, Airplane, Midget

So I tried this last night, not expecting it to really have any effect on my dreams. I've tried doing things like this before and it's never really done anything, so I was interested in seeing what would happen. To my surprise, it actually worked. I didn't have a dream about these things specifically, they were definitely there. I dreamed I was in one of my classrooms in school and instead of our normal lesson plan, our teacher gave a presentation on hedgehogs, airplanes, and midgets. We weren't trying to learn about them so much, but we were doing an experiment to see if we could control our dreams by thinking of certain things. Weird, huh?

Day 31: Nauru Awareness Day

"Nauru is a tiny island all lone in the middle of the Pacific. Today let them know they're not completely forgotten."

So the official website of Nauru doesn't have any mailing addresses, so I couldn't find a way to send them anything and the contact emails hadn't been updated since 2007 so that was out. I figured I could at least learn a little about this place so that they won't be forgotten.

Formerly known as Pleasant Island, Nauru is a small Micronesian island in the south pacific. It's nearest neighbor Banaba Island in Kiribati, 300 kilometers to the east. Nauru is the world's smallest republic, covering just 21 square kilometers. With just over 9,265 residents, it is the second least-populated country after Vatican City.

Nauru was first inhabited by Micronesian and Polynesian people at least 3,000 years ago. There were traditionally 12 clans or tribes on Nauru, which are represented in the 12-pointed star in the flag of the country. Nauruans traced their descent matrilineally. Nauruans practiced aquaculture – they caught juvenile ibija fish, acclimatised them to fresh water, and raised them in the Buada Lagoon, providing an additional and more reliable source of food. The other locally grown components of their diet included coconuts and pandanus fruit.
Nauru is a republic with a parliamentary system of government. The president is both the head of state and of government. An 18-member unicameral parliament is elected every three years. The parliament elects a President from its members, and the President appoints a cabinet of five to six members. Nauru does not have any formal structure for political parties. Candidates typically stand for office as independents. Fifteen of the 18 members of the current Parliament are independents, and alliances within the government are often formed on the basis of extended family ties. Three parties that have sometimes been active in Nauruan politics are the Democratic Party, Nauru First, and the Centre Party.
Australian rules football is the most popular sport in Nauru. There is a football league with seven teams. All games are played at the Linkbelt Oval, one of only two stadiums in Nauru. Other sports popular in Nauru include volleyball, netball, weightlifting, fishing and tennis. Nauru participates in the Commonwealth Games and the Summer Olympic Games, where team members have been somewhat successful in weightlifting. Marcus Stephen has been a medalist, and he was elected to Parliament in 2003, and was elected as President of Nauru in 2007.

Day 29

"Dial a phone number at random and read the following script with a Deep South accent."
The Book then gives a long, biblical speech to read out.

I admit it, I failed this one. I was trying to set up a way to record calls through skype and it wasn't working well and I couldn't figure out a way to record an actual phone call so I kind of just gave up. At least I tried though, right?

EDIT: I ended up giving this another shot, without trying to record it. The call lasted all of about 10 seconds before the other person hung up.
