Day 196: Mannerisms Day

"Your body language is as individual as your DNA. You move in your very own mysterious ways, and your physical quirks actually reveal much about you. Today, try to be aware of what your body is saying to those around you: don't let them betray your innermost feelings."

I've noticed recently that I tend to crack my joints (neck, fingers, legs, etc.) a lot when I don't have much to say to the person that I'm talking to or hanging out with. I don't know if that's an indicator of anything deeper, but it may just mean that I don't have anything to say.

Day 195

"Today, make a snowball!"

I didn't really know how I was going to accomplish this, being that it's the middle of July. But, by sheer coincidence, I had a glass of water with crushed ice in it, and it happened to form the ice into a ball. I guess that still counts, right?

Day 194

"Today, prioritize your dreams!"

I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing that. I kind of already know what I want to do with my life, so... there's that.

Day 193: Spend as much time as possible in the sun

"You are a precious flower. Or a delicate bud perhaps? No, no, rather, you are like a beautiful as yet undeveloped photograph, that will perish without light. Why all those endless hours wasted in the preternatural gloom of your sordid little place of work? Stroll, or sit outside for a couple of hours today and enjoy the sun's golden rays. SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a clinically diagnosed condition in which the lack of sunlight in winter literally makes people ill. It affects millions of people around the world, though proportionately more the farther you get from the equator of course. In the more remote parts of Scandinavia, it has been known to con tribute to higher suicide rates, SAD;s effects can be explained with reference to the importance of sunlight on cellular functioning. As light enters the eye, it hits the retina and filters through to the pineal gland. The pineal glad in turn produces melatonin, a neurotransmitter that affects the hypothalamus gland. The hypothalamus gland controls a whole range of vital functions, including mood, hormones, appetite, libido and metabolism. Beyond this, sunlight is also crucial as an indirect provider of Vitamin D. The sun's ultraviolet rays set off its production, itself necessary for the absorption of calcium in the bones and teeth. Indeed, vitamin D deficiency among those who spend too much time indoors can lead to brittle bones and fractures."

I got my good fair share of time in the sun today. Luckily, it never got too hot out so it was actually pretty enjoyable. I've always liked spending time outdoors, but lately I'm either been too tired or too lazy to go out and do anything fun. Maybe I'll start making more time for things like that.

Day 192: Family Love Day

"Incest works well for animal breeding, so why not for you? Today, explore your deeper feelings toward a cousin, a sibling, or a parent perhaps. Taboos, after all, are made to be broken."

No, thanks

Day 191: Bury a Treasure

"This is a fun day out. Assemble some objects that have special meaning to you, life family photos, some letters, and a hoard of stolen gold. Find a secluded spot and dig a hole at least one foot deep, so some dumb dog can't unearth it. Draw a map of the location so that you will be able to find it in ten or twenty years' time. Place your treasure in a sealed box. Now bury it. One day when you're broke and/or civilization has crumbled, you'll be glad to dig it up and live off the contents."

I wish that I had a hoard of gold to bury, don't we all? But instead, I chose to bury a few items that have some personal significance. They're not really worth much of anything, but it may be cool to go find them sometime down the road. Here's the map:
I made it intentionally a little cryptic, so that I can remember but nobody else can go snag it.

Day 190

"Follow these directions: Walk straight for 15 minutes, take the first left, turn left again, walk straight for 25 minutes, cross the nearest bridge or footpath, turn right, cross the road, walk straight for 30 minutes, board the nearest bus and get off after 3 stops, walk straight for 6 minutes, stop and stretch, get a taxi home."

Unfortunately, I was home sick from work all day today so I really didn't feel up to walking around aimlessly. I'll come back to this when I have more time and I'm feeling better.
